What is a data processor?
Updated over 2 years ago

A data processor is a person or company that is engaged to process personal data on behalf of your company.

Processing personal data means the collection, recording, organisation, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, alignment or combination, blocking, erasure or destruction of personal data.

Your company may not have a data processor, but if it does, this needs to be disclosed to the Regulator. Some examples include Google Drive, Amazon Web Services, and Microsoft - all of these entities have cloud based systems for storing personal data.
