Passport Certification

Passport certification is an official process where an authorised professional verifies that a photocopy of your passport is an accurate, complete, and unaltered reproduction of the original document which you will show to them with the photocopy.

Clara requires a certified passport for any individual who will be a director, shareholder, UBO, Authorised Signatory or Data Protection contact for a company where Clara is appointed as the CSP. If an individual holds multiple nationalities, the certification must be done on their primary nationality passport.

This process can be completed by any one of the following:

  1. a registered lawyer;

  2. a registered notary;

  3. a chartered accountant;

  4. a government ministry;

  5. a police officer; or

  6. an embassy or consulate official.

The certification must identify the individual being certified and the person conducting the certification. The below wording is recommended:

I, [FULL NAME OF CERTIFYER], hereby certify that the holder of this passport issued in the name of [FULL NAME OF INDIVIDUAL REQUESTING CERTIFICATION] with passport number [INSERT] appeared before me on [INSERT DATE] and that the attached is a true copy of the original and the photograph bears a true likeness of the individual named.
